Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so awful that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to process the sheer magnitude of chaos and just resigns itself to fate, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.
But then, you realize that it's not really funny. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you felt morphs into a sigh.
In the end, you are left with a sense of confusion. You wonder about the purpose of it all. Was this a joke?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with the case of uncontrollable hair. I couldn't figure it to look right. As I was dashing out the door, I trippedover and landed all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was totally late for a very important appointment.
I arrived. My {boss|mentor|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was no use.
The rest of the day was just as bad. was a catastrophe. I stay awake.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as a day to forget.

It all started out badly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A read more series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
